Waste Data Solution
Waste Data Solution
In 2020, the UK generated an estimated 40.4 million tonnes of commercial and industrial (C&I) waste, with 33.7 million tonnes (83%)coming from England. By 2022, England's C&I waste generation was around33.6 million tonnes. Traditionally, waste reporting involves weighing lorries at recycling or landfill sites, with costs charged back to building owners. However, sustainability initiatives and the drive towards Net Zero have increased the need for detailed data on waste segregation and recycling levels.
This has led to the installation of Waste Data Solutions – incorporating industrial scales in buildings and AI technology - to provide granular data on waste streams, encouraging recycling and waste reduction. The Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) requirements, mandatory since 2019 for large companies and LLPs in the UK, further emphasise the need for detailed waste reporting. Businesses must report total waste by weight, categorise it and disclose its final destination, among other metrics.
Waste data solutions offer precise measurements of waste generated by different tenants or areas within a property, helping to identify waste patterns and areas for improvement. The solutions automatically record data on waste weight and type, providing insights into waste generation trends. Real-time monitoring and reporting allow property managers to plan waste collection schedules efficiently.
By identifying and reducing waste, waste data solutions can lead to significant cost savings and a reduced environmental footprint. Efficient waste management helps meet sustainability goals and regulatory compliance. These systems often feature user-friendly interfaces, making it easy for property managers and tenants to use and understand the collected data.
